REFLECTION

My second year of university is about to begin and this year I want to achieve even more than last year.  It is no longer something new and scary. This time round I know what it takes to be a great student and that is commitment... a lot of commitment and determination.
I need to highlight my strengths and work on my weaknesses. I am a very creative person, and that is my strength but at times I get so carried away I skip the marketing process behind my final result; which is vital.  The FCP process is one that I always have to keep in mind this year because as one of my lecturers said “Behind every successful creative result is a marketing mind”. It takes talent to be creative but creativity is nothing without a well thought out process to support it.
This year I will keep up with the reading list because I now know how important it is to be an academic, something that I did not realise last year. When it came down to my final work it was obvious that my background knowledge was missing. The reading list is there for a reason and in order to make improvements I need to follow it.
“Follow the brief” is a simple instruction but somehow I managed to miss out something each time.  I need to remain creative and have a big imagination whilst still delivering the brief and fulfilling the learning outcomes. This year I will do that by splitting the brief into small and clear sections, going over all the points and reading my work several times before handing it in.
I am an independent and passionate person but the people around me have a rather big influence on keeping my passions alive. Surrounding myself with those equally as passionate will help me remain motivated and career driven.
I am looking forward to this year and the experiences that I’m going to gain.
